The Quarry Triptych

Karen was born in 1973 in Munich, Germany but has been based, when not travelling, in Wellington and Melbourne since 2000. Her moody and sparse landscape paintings reflect the countryside she has traveled through documenting both its light and character and her impressions of it. Richly painted in earthy tones and raw Indian pigments Karen's canvases are expressive - they evoke feelings of a rich but empty vastness, of escape into the natural wilderness.
