Lake Waikere - Kai Iwi Lakes

Born in New Zealand, Janet Bothner-By (nee Levien) spent a lot of her childhood overseas, resulting in an increased awareness and love of her native land. Her desire is to capture the breathtaking beauty and unspoiled nature of the country with authenticity and credibility, helping others recognise the splendour of the country through her paintings. Janet Bothner-By was taught the principles of art and the techniques of painting by Peter Brown in Hawkes Bay as well as attending lessons by tutors at ASA and art schools on location. Her tutors include John Clifford, Don Binney, Julia Forbes and others. Janet has exhibited all over the North Island, including in Auckland, Wellington and Hawkes Bay under the names of Styles and Bothner-By. In 1985 she was awarded the Bledisloe Landscape medal. Many of Janets paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout New Zealand and overseas.
