Eden Heights

Emma Watt was born in Auckland in 1974. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Arts in 1995, followed by her Master of Fine Arts in printmaking in 1997. She has since gained her teaching diploma and currently teaches practical art at Avondale College in Auckland. Watt has exhibited in a number of group exhibitions since 1993. She received the Mt Eden Young Artist Award in 1997. She juxtaposes flat interlocking blocks of colour to create a sense of balance ..as this resolution of the works proportional relationships into a unified, harmonious whole is necessary to create a work of a quiet (or silent) nature. The silent quality of the work provides a sanctum for contemplation.
