James Ross
James Ross was born in Gillingham, England in 1948, emigrating to New Zealand at the age of eleven years. He completed his secondary education within Auckland then attended Elam School of Fine Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Ross has participated in numerous group and solo shows both in New Zealand and overseas. He is extensively represented in public, corporate and private collections with work in Australia, New York, Boston, London and Paris.

His exhibition in New York in 2001 shows a further development of his abstract style. Making paintings which are more object-oriented? is for me a way into a different type of abstraction. They are very schematic, theres a lot of what I consider shorthand for figurative or spatial information.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0640/2719/7551/files/a-arcade-_-square-_fog_-james-ross-art-bureau-nz_1.jpg?v=1750150779
