Rebecca Tune

Rebecca Tune was born in Auckland . She was surrounded by art from a young age as her father is painter Geoff Tune. After leaving school she studied art history for two years at Auckland University before changing to a Fine Arts degree at the ASA. Once she graduated Tune went to Teachers Training College and then taught art at secondary level for three years. She then decided to start up her own graphic design business which she is still running today. Tune is not afraid to experiment with her work and has used a variety of techniques and mediums. Some of her more recent works are wall reliefs that have photographic images of surfaces close up and these are glued to wooden constructions giving them a three dimensional quality. Her latest paintings are acrylic and lacquer on board. The layers of paint are subtly applied and in some poetic text runs across the surface. Tune has been in many solo and group exhibitions. She has won the Mt Eden Young Artist Award twice and merit awards also on two separate occasions. Recently she has exhibited with her father.
