Pat Paterson
Pat Paterson is a multimedia artist based in rural Waikato. She has had a lifelong obsession with creating works of art. After beginning classes at the Waikato Society of Arts, her fine art skills were developed through many weekend workshops and Elam summer schools.
The tutors being leading New Zealand artists, Lousie Henderson, Doris Lusk, Jan Nigro, Phillipa Blair, Alister Nisbet-Smith and Michael Shepherd. History of art was studied by correspence and at the University of Waikato.
Over a twenty year period her work has changed from strong stylised landscape and figure studies, to abstarct works in all media's including large sculptures consisting predominantly of No. 8 wire.
Her work reflects her love of the land and the natural environment.
Paterson has exhibited her work extensively, both within group and solo shows in Auckland Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Christchurch. Her work can be found in corporate and private collections throughout New Zealand, Australia and America.
