Kennedy Malin
Deceased artist Kennedy Malin began four years as an adult student at Elam School of Fine Arts at Auckland University in 1987. She majored in painting and obtained her Bachelor of Fine arts in 1990. Since 1991, she worked part-time as a painting tutor at the Auckland Society of Arts which has now been incorporated into the Auckland Institute of Technology.
Kennedy Malin participated in group shows from 1991, with her first solo show in 1994. She had commissions from private collectors in New Zealand including Raeburn Glanfield and Centra Hotel.
Malin was a finalist for the Visa Gold Awards in 1997. She completed her Masters in 1996 with canvas panels based on a shawl gifted to Katherine Mansfield by Lady Ottiline Morrell. The elements of lace and stitchery are beautifully depicted in the 5 mixed media panels entitled Bliss and the 6 panels entitled Poison.
