Bruce was born in Rotorua in 1950 and most of Bruces work has been placed through private contacts or referrals. Work has been placed in London, Madrid, Osaka, Tokyo, Sag Harbor, Michigan and Manhattan. Not detailed some 25 private commissions placed in NZ. He has worked on several main philosophical themes; these are represented under the titles, Creation, Colourfield and Around The Bend an Abstract Road. The Creation Series has been evolving since 1985 and is my expression of the relationship between the sexes. Colour field works are abstract expressionist pieces, exploring the balance and tensions with colour, texture, composition, media, surface and size.Enabling the viewer the creative experience of seeing a story of there own. Around the Bend an Abstract Road series, are land form based images from traveling and the intrigue or not of the next vista experience. Along side my passion for painting and printmaking I have worked with wood, creating sculpture. These works are either for interior display or the larger works for garden placement. I find that I move between the different mediums as the the creative spark leads me.
